Nicolas Ouédec once started as a promising young striker at FC Nantes and even became (shared) French league topscorer in 1993-94. When he arrived, aged 30, at La Louvière his career had been moving downwards fast. On the base of his goals in the Ligue 1 he made a lucrative transfer to Espanyol Barcelona but he never was able to force his way into the team. He went back to France but flopped: in 4 seasons (1 PSG, 3 Montpellier) Ouédec scored a grand total of 6 goals.

With the Wolves of La Louviére he made a decent start, he scored in his first game in a 1-3 loss against Anderlecht, but in the next 11 games he only scored twice; the winner in a home game against STVV (1-0) and again against Anderlecht in a 5-2 loss.

Ouédec’s contract was torn up in February citing “personal problems” after which he left for China where he had three reasonably successful seasons before retiring.
