Admittedly, Iorgulescu was already 33 when he settled in Antwerp and his glory days with the Romanian national team were also some years behind him but nevertheless expectations were high after his arrival. After all, Iorgulescu was a central defender and with his experience he had to give Beerschot some extra resilience in that department.

It was not meant to be. Iorgulescu arrived not fully fit and one of the two matches he was going to play for the Rats was a home defeat against the great rivals of Royal Antwerp.

The Romanian would only play one other game for Beerschot (a draw against the neighbours of Beveren).

Currently (2019) he is the president of the Romanian Professional Football League.
