It hasn’t been that long since the Vossevelden became eligible to be included on this site. The 5th of September 2010 to be exact. On that day KFC Katelijne-Waver played for the first time in its existence a home game on the National level. Their opponents were Eendracht Zele and they were sent back home with a 2-0 loss.
It was a day the village of Sint-Katelijne-Waver had been waiting on for more than 50 years. Just months before the club finally breached the glass ceiling to the National Divisions after a win in the Provincial play-offs against KFC Houtvenne.
Founded in 1946 with Matricule 4453 the blueshirts had been playing for over 50 seasons in the Antwerp Provincial Divisions.
Despite the fact that the club website calls the infrastructure on the Vossevelden as “modern” they still feel provincial. On the opposite side of the small main stand is the complex with the bar and the changing rooms and a sort of porch that doubles as a covered standing area. A second covered standing area near one of the corners offers protection at about 50 people.
