Belgian Club : KV Kortrijk – 14 games, 3 goals

Previous Clubs : AJ Auxerre (FRA), Olympique Marseille (FRA), Girondins de Bordeaux (FRA), Manchester United (ENG), FC Kopenhagen (DEN), Montpellier HSC (FRA), SSC Napoli (ITA), Hearts of Midlothian (SCO)

Later Clubs : Toulouse FC (FRA), Al-Sailiya Sport Club (QAT)

International : 1 A-cap France

The arrival of William Prunier was met with all kinds of bells and whistles by newly promoted KV Kortrijk: French international! Explayer of Manchester United!
In itself both statements are true though there are some comments to be made: the only international match that Prunier played dated from 1992 and William arrived in 1998 at the Kerels. Also, his playing career at Manchester United should be taken with a grain of salt: Manchester United offered him, on behalf of his exteam mate and friend Eric Cantona, a temporary contract.
Under normal circumstances, Prunier never would have even come near the first team but injuries plagued the Red Devils defense so against QPR and Tottenham, Prunier got his chance in the heart of the defense. Against Tottenham the Frenchman was completely outplayed by Chris Armstrong, United lost 4-1 and Prunier would never wear the shirt of United again.
Of his passage in that disastrous season KVK fans will mainly remember his wild tackles, his goals and his fight with Eric Van Meir. It did not help, Kortrijk relegated and Prunier would continue his career at Toulouse.
